A Validation Study of the Nuclear Feeling Checklist

Abstract

|
The purpose of the study was to validate the Nuclear Feeling Checklist. In order to validify the existing Nuclear Feeling Checklist, firstly it was converted to a Likert scale format and collected data from 400 adults over the age of 20. As the result, factor analysis showed eight factors (i.e. fear, helplessness/enthusiastic, anxiety, competitiveness, hostility, anger/intimacy, jealousy, alienation) and the reconstructed Nuclear Feeling Scale showed adequate internal consistency. Convergent validity was confirmed with the data obtained from 234 respondents out of the previous 400 which showed a significant positive correlation between each sub-factor and NRS. To examine the concurrent validity of the scale, the shortened version was formed and it was verified by showing a significant positive correlation between the shortened and full item scale. The Nuclear Feeling Scale which is validated and shortened in the study will be able to be used in the related literature and practices.
